Cookie & Storage Policy

1. What This Covers

"Cookies" are small files a site stores in your browser. EMOTomo also uses localStorage and sessionStorage (similar technologies). Together we call these "storage." This policy covers both, because rules in some regions apply to storing or reading information on your device regardless of the method. 2. Cookies We Set

• em_oauth_ctx — a short-lived (about 30 minutes) security cookie that protects the "Sign in with Google" flow against cross-site request forgery. Strictly necessary.
• emotomo_anon_id — an anonymous identifier used for signed-out functionality and analytics (may also be stored in localStorage). Functional.

If product analytics (Amplitude) is enabled, the analytics library may set its own cookies or identifiers. See section 5.

3. Browser Storage We Use

EMOTomo stores most state in localStorage. The main items include:

• Sign-in & account: your login token and basic account context (so you stay signed in), and an anonymous identifier for signed-out use.
• Preferences: language, selected model, chat appearance, and feature toggles you set.
• Consent & acknowledgments: a record that you acknowledged our "not clinical therapy" notice and any age confirmation.
• Onboarding & tutorial state and favorite characters.

The exact set of keys may change as the product evolves; this reflects the main items at the effective date.

4. Categories and Consent

We group storage into strictly necessary (sign-in, security, core functionality), functional/preference (remembers your choices), and analytics (helps us improve the product, if enabled). In regions such as the EU/UK, non-essential storage and analytics generally require your consent; where applicable, we will ask before loading non-essential tools.

5. Analytics & Error Tools

If configured, we use Amplitude for product analytics (we exclude chat content and do not use session replay) and Sentry for error monitoring. These are off unless enabled. See our Privacy Policy.

6. How to Control Storage

• You can block or delete cookies and clear site storage in your browser settings, or use private/incognito mode.
• Signing out and using account/data controls clears much of the signed-in storage; deleting your account is covered by our Privacy Policy.
• Consequences of disabling: strictly necessary storage can't be turned off without breaking core features — you may be unable to sign in, stay logged in, or use the chat. Disabling functional storage means we won't remember your preferences.

7. Changes

We may update this policy as our storage practices change. We will post updates here and revise the effective date.
